Museum Applications
During the research and development phase of the technology, we have collaborated on a number of projects to test and demonstrate a number of “real life” museum and heritage recording applications with several Canadian and international museums and cultural agencies.
Collaborations involving the documentation and digitization of museum and art gallery objects such as ethnographic and archaeological collections, natural history specimens and paintings have included such partners as: the Canadian Museum of Civilization, the National Gallery of Canada, the Canadian Museum of Nature, the British Museum and the Centre de recherche et de restauration des musées de France (C2RMF).
Following are examples of these demonstration projects:
- High Resolution 3D Scanning of Paintings using a XYZ-RGB Portable Color Scanner at the C2RMF, Paris, France, 2004
- High-Resolution 3D-Color Laser Scanning and Modeling of Museum Objects
- Participation in the Digital Michelangelo Project, Florence, Italy, 1999
- Hieroglyphic Stairway at the Peabody Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology, Boston, USA, 1998
- Replication for the Mysteries of Egypt Exhibition at the Canadian Museum of Civilization, Gatineau, Canada, 1998
- NRC Scans of Cuneiform Tablets from Stanford University, Stanford, USA, 1998
