Canada Savings Bonds Rates Announced
The Department of Finance today announced interest rates for Canada Savings Bond (CSB) Series 102 and Canada Premium Bond (CPB) Series 52, which are on sale from today until November 1, 2006, inclusive.

Canada’s New Government Marks 60th Anniversary of Canada Savings Bonds
The Honourable Jim Flaherty, Minister of Finance, participated in a celebration at the Canadian Museum of Civilization to mark the 60th year of Canada Savings Bonds. The special event, entitled “Creating Opportunities for 60 years,” coincides with the launch of the 2006–07 Canada Savings Bonds sales campaign, which began today and continues through to April 1, 2007.

Canada Savings Bonds winning stories shared across the country: National storytelling contest allows Canadians to realize their dreams
In the words of Samantha Nielsen from Halifax, Nova Scotia, “dreams can be for you and they can be for someone else”. In her entry for the sixth annual “Tell Us Your CSB Story” contest, presented by Rogers Communications, Samantha explains how she would use a $1,000 Canada Savings Bond to help those less fortunate in her community.

Interest Rates Increase on Canada Savings Bonds
The Department of Finance today announced an increase in the interest rate for the Canada Savings Bond (CSB) Series 100 and the Canada Premium Bond (CPB) Series 50, which are on sale until March 1, 2006. The increased rates will apply to any of these bond series purchased by Canadians since the sale of bonds began on February 2, 2006.

Canada Savings Bonds winning stories shared across the country: National storytelling contest embraces sixty years of a Canadian tradition
Davide from Toronto remembers receiving a Canada Savings Bond for his tenth birthday from his Italian immigrant grandparents who hoped the investment would help him understand the great values of Canada and their own sacrifices in becoming Canadians. This year, Davide is looking forward to going back to Italy as a proud Canadian, to attend the Winter Olympics in Turin, thanks to that special gift from his grandparents many years ago.
