Canada-Saskatchewan Western Economic Partnership Agreement

Western Economic Partnership Agreements (WEPAs) strengthen productivity and improve the quality of life in communities across Western Canada.  Agreements are established between the Government of Canada and each of the four provincial governments in Western Canada.

In Saskatchewan, Western Economic Diversification Canada provided $25 million, which is matched by the Government of Saskatchewan.  WEPA initiatives increase the competitiveness and productivity of the Saskatchewan economy, while building stronger local communities.

Projects include investments to:

  • develop Saskatchewan’s small- and medium-sized business sector
  • support economic and technological innovation to create a more competitive business environment
  • encourage Aboriginal participation in the economy and the workforce
  • promote increased diversification and value-added processing activities
  • increase economic opportunities to make Saskatchewan communities healthier and stronger

The Agreement generates federal-provincial cooperation and better coordination of economic development activities in Saskatchewan.
