Urban Development Agreements (UDA) combine the resources and expertise of federal, provincial and municipal partnerships to address municipal priorities. WD participates in Urban Development Agreements in Vancouver, Winnipeg, Saskatoon and Regina.
WD worked with the Province of Saskatchewan and the cities of Saskatoon and Regina to identify economic priorities and determine how governments can work together to stimulate growth.
These initiatives are aimed at generating economic activity to improve the viability, prosperity and quality of life in Regina and Saskatoon. Existing programs will be used to implement and deliver projects.
WD provided $5 million to both Saskatoon and Regina under the five-year, $10-million agreements. The Province of Saskatchewan provided $2.5 million to each city. Funding was matched by Regina and Saskatoon.
Funding under these agreements will be used to leverage other funding from similar programs , such as the federal Urban Aboriginal Strategy.
In Saskatoon, projects fall under three themes : Building A Better City, Sustainable Neighbourhoods and A Healthy and Innovative Environment.
In Regina, there are four themes: Building A Better Quality of Life, Infrastructure, Inner City Neighbourhoods and Downtown and An Innovative and Sustainable Community.
