Francophone Economic Development Organizations in Manitoba

Francophone Economic Development Organizations (FEDOs) provide business services to French and Francophile people, including training, access to capital, information services, networking and marketing.

The Conseil de développement économique des municipalités bilingues du Manitoba (CDEM) is the driving force behind economic development in Manitoba's bilingual municipalities since 1996.  It stimulates economic development by promoting the value of bilingualism in the local economy. 

The Conseil works in co-operation with bilingual municipalities and their community development corporations to launch major economic development projects.  It helps entrepreneurs and small business services and programs including:

  • A business incubator, which offers services to young entrepreneurs
  • Professional business training programs
  • Investment funds to give small businesses access to risk capital
  • Evaluation of Entrepreneur Profile, a tool that allows people to evaluate their potential as an entrepreneur
  • Business Plan Design, a tool to plan all aspects of business, including management, financing, and marketing
  • Market Study, a tool that studies the market potential of a venture, a business, a product or a service and determines the target clientele, product's price, location, and advertising needs
  • Personalized consulting on inventory management, cash flow, project financing, estate/sale of a business
  • Help with expansion projects
