Canada Foundation for Innovation Support Program

Application process

To apply for funding assistance under the Canada Foundation for Innovation Support Program (CFI-SP) you will need to submit a brief, two-page outline detailing the cost for preparing your project proposal for the Canada Foundation for Innovation program (CFI). All information will be held in strict confidence.

Outline Information

  1. Provide a summary of the proposed CFI project.
  2. Provide the estimated cost for preparing this proposal.
  3. Confirm the proposal is prepared in the standard format required for the CFI program.

Applicant Information

  1. Confirm the organization’s eligibility for the CFI program.
  2. Confirm the research is focused in the area of health, environment, science or engineering.
  3. Demonstrate the organization possesses the resources to undertake the proposed project and has the capability to support the additional future operating costs.
  4. Provide details of any financial assistance from other funding agencies or departments.

Basic Information

  1. Legal or registered name.
  2. Mailing and street address.
  3. Contact name of the person responsible for research activities within your organization.
  4. The contact’s telephone number, fax and e-mail.

Upon completion of the application for the CFI-SP, a client service officer will review the application to determine eligibility for funding assistance. Successful applicants have 90 days to submit the CFI proposal. A copy of the submitted proposal and a certified list of the direct costs incurred and paid for (based on the list provided in the CFI-SP application) must be sent to WD before the payment claim can be processed.
