Home : Reports and Publications : Audit & Evaluation : Evaluation of the WEI – October 2004
Table 1 shows the reported performance of the Women’s Enterprise Initiative from April 1, 1999 to March 31, 2004. This information was provided by WD in August 2004 and represents data provided to WD in the WEI organizations’ quarterly reports. Analysis of the Program Performance data is incorporated into Section 3.0 Evaluation Findings.
A few observations concerning the difficulties of utilizing this data as presented are noted here: for example, Manitoba and Saskatchewan report a greater # of loans accepted than were approved, resulting in Pan West totals reflecting the same information. Why this is the case is not clear. Also – the total $s leveraged for the WE Initiative differs from the sum of the $s leveraged (no WEI $s) and the $s leveraged (with WEI $s) by about $300,000. These two illustrations point to issues concerning the recording and reporting of WEI figures. For purpose of analysis in this report, the statistics as supplied have been utlized where possible as indicative of program activity.
