Appendix E Survey Findings Saskatchewan

Figure 1: Percentage of Members with partnerships with... Saskatchewan

Figure 1 describes the frequency of partnership arrangements between the members and other organizations. As shown above:

  • All (100 per cent) survey respondents report partnerships with other CFDCs, the provincial government and CBSCs.
  • The percentage of members that have partnerships with other federal government departments, HRDC, municipalities and business associations is also relatively high with an average of 85 per cent (varying from 81 per cent to 88 per cent).
  • Six per cent of the members established partnerships with other organizations.

Figure 2 describes the relationship between CFDCs. According to the results:

  • All respondents (100 per cent) agree that network members meet regularly to improve their services and regularly exchange business information.
  • Sixty-nine (69) per cent agree that network members share best practices about community economic development and (75 per cent) client training/counseling.

Figure 3 further describes the relationship between network members. The results show the following:

  • According to the survey results, a majority, 94 per cent, of respondents agrees that their organization and other members of the network regularly exchange information.
  • A majority also agrees that all networks regularly refer clients to each other (78 per cent).
  • A lower percentage of respondents agree that the networks work cooperatively to minimize duplications between them (63 per cent), CFDCs and other members of the network meet regularly to improve services (57 per cent), and that WCBSN members share a consistent approach to business and economic development (56 per cent).

Participants were asked questions on the relationships between their network members and WD. According to the survey results:

  • Overall the respondents are generally satisfied with the relationship between their organization and WD, except in the area of funding with only 19 per cent agreeing that funding met the operational needs of their organizations.
  • Ninety-four (91) per cent agree that WD staff was available to help interpret the terms and conditions of the contribution agreement between their organization and WD.
  • Eighty-five (85) per cent agree that there is an ongoing need for a pan western association of CFDCs.
  • The majority (63 per cent) concurred that the terms and conditions of the agreement between their organization and WD were appropriate overall.

Figure 5 provides additional survey information about the relationship between the members and WD. As shown above:

  • A strong majority of 88 per cent agreed that their organization had the capacity to produce quarterly reports in a timely manner and half of all respondents (50 per cent) agreed that the quarterly reports provided to WD reflect the achievements of their organization,
  • Seventy-five (75) per cent agreed that their organization regularly contacts WD for support and information.
  • Only 50 per cent agreed that WD is effective in providing support for the management of their organization.
