To OR single terms, or use either Boolean operator with compound terms, switch to "Phrase" searching and separate the terms by the operators: an ampersand ( & ) for Boolean AND, and a comma ( , ) for Boolean OR. See examples.

Author searching: Search authors by last name only, i.e. shaw* or full names using single quotes as 'shaw, k.b.' Also the authors are indexed as "lastname-comma-space-initial-period-initial-period..." Browsing the index is highly recommended.
