Intrusion Detection (ID) Lab

The ID lab includes several commercial and open source ID systems. The lab is available for use in the development, testing, exploration and integration of ID solutions. With this capability, we are prepared to take part in joint experiments and exercises with clients. We can provide expertise in deployment of ID systems, testing of emerging technologies and ID methodologies, investigation into integration of ID systems, and network attack analysis.

Electronic Warfare Technology Demonstrator (EWTD)

EWTD is a laboratory configuration of the Canadian Forces CF-18 fighter aircraft electronic warfare (EW) suite. Built and designed by DRDC Ottawa, the facility provides a testbed to support R&D; activities directed toward improvement of the overall performance of the EW suite.

Transportable Intrapulse Collection and Analysis Facility

Novel hardware and processing algorithms for analyzing radar signals. The transportable facility is extremely useful for collecting and analysing radar signals. It features novel intrapulse hardware and processing algorithms for measuring fine-grain parameters on signal modulations. The facility can also provide high accuracy direction-finding and polarization measurements on radar signals.

SBS SimLab: Space-Based Surveillance Simulation Laboratory

SBS SimLab is a powerful computer-based facility that models a Space-Based Surveillance (SBS) system and its operation, to evaluate its performance within an overall surveillance architecture. An advanced modular software simulation package, SBS SimLab can be installed as a stand-alone, or on a network of Sun SPARC stations.

Inertial Navigation Laboratory

Inertial technology plays an important role in providing various Department of National Defence platforms with a self-contained means of determining heading, attitude and position. By providing a means of precisely measuring and characterizing individual inertial system and sensor errors, the DRDC Ottawa Inertial Navigation Laboratory plays a key role in supporting the acquisition, operation and maintenance of inertial sensors and systems by the Department of National Defence. This capability is also necessary to support the development efforts of DRDC Ottawa to integrate these inertial systems with other navigation sensors such as GPS, to provide the Department of National Defence with accurate, reliable and affordable navigation.
