Human Centrifuge

photoThe only human centrifuge in Canada. Simulates the rapid-onset G-forces experienced by Canadian Forces pilots flying high performance aircraft.

Impact Studies Facility

photoSimulates crashes up to 100 km/hr for certification of transportation safety systems. The only facility of its kind in Canada.

Noise Research Facility

photoA facility for replicating the sounds to which operational personnel are exposed, such as that in helicopter cabins, tracked vehicles and ship engine rooms.

Diving Research and Training Facilities

photoThe Diving Research Facility (DRF) simulates underwater environments for military and commercial applications. Human-rated with maximum pressure 17.2 MPa (1725 metres), and 2.4-m diameter by 3.7-m long ocean simulator. The Diving Training Facility is used to train hyperbaric system operators and to conduct scientific experiments not requiring the extensive capabilities of the DRF. Human-rated with maximum pressure 1.03 MPa (103 metres) and 1.8-m diameter by 2.7-m long ocean simulator.

Unmanned Hyperbaric Test Facility

photoPressurized, temperature-controlled chamber for equipment test and evaluation. 3.06 MPa (306 metres) test chamber with 0.9 m by 1.2 m wet tank and two breathing simulators.

Climatic Chambers

photoSimulation of tropical to arctic environments. Four chambers; -50°C to +60°C, 35 km/h wind; 5-95% relative humidity; capacity of 10 subjects at a time; continuous operation.
