Munitions Experimental Test Centre (METC)

Organization
To support the Canadian Forces in munitions and other armament requirements, METC offers a large range of technological resources. The Centre, a lodger unit at Defence R&D Canada – Valcartier, is under the authority of the Director Armament Sustainment Programme Management (DASPM) of the Department of National Defence. It has 63 employees, including ten military staff.
 Mission
To provide expert services in the field of testing and experimentation of systems, components and phenomena involving munitions or explosives.A competent technical team as well as highly specialized facilities and equipment support the Canadian Forces and are available to industry. 
Scope of activities
Tests and experimentation for the Canadian Forces operational requirements.
Tests and experimentation to support Defence R&D Canada – Valcartier’s scientific program.
Operational support to the private sector for the procurement of ammunition for the Canadian Forces.
 Technical Services
Provide technical expertise in metrology, imaging and instrumentation for studying the high-speed behaviour of bullets, blasts and fragments, etc.
Operate and provide maintenance of technical equipment required for measurements.
Evaluate and analyze technical requirements for test plans.
Operate the following laboratories:
- Environmental Simulation
- Radiographic Inspection
- Metrology for physics, ballistics and bio-mechanics
- Imagery
