Western Economic Diversification Canada's Status Reports on the Implementation of Section 41 of the Official Languages Act

WD's current Action Plan for the Implementation of Section 41 of the Official Languages Act (OLA) is a multi-year plan, covering the period April 2000 to March 2004. The Action Plan builds on the success of previous years and is enriched by feedback from the community as well as the development of a long-term strategy. This strategy is a comprehensive and integrated approach to entrepreneurship and business development in western Canada's francophone communities. The annual Status Reports cover the activities and achievements presented in the multi-year Action Plan.

Current Status Report and Action Plan

Western Economic Diversification (WD) made advances in the 2004-05 year to its commitment to the Official Languages Minority Communities (OLMC), implementing initiatives in support of partnership agreements and supporting new projects benefiting western French speaking communities. Please see the report below for more details. WD's Section 41 initiatives are complimentary to the departmental strategic outcomes in the areas of enhancing innovation, entrepreneurship and sustainable communities. WD anticipates further involvement and contributions to the OLMC with respect to community and economic development as the 2004-2008 Action Plan moves into its second year.
