Small Business Week is an opportunity to recognize and celebrate the contributions of Canada's new breed of pioneers . . . entrepreneurs.
Particularly in Western Canada, where there are 40 per cent more small businesses per capita than elsewhere in the nation, entrepreneurs are a powerful force for prosperity . . . creating nearly 80 per cent of all new jobs.
Western Economic Diversification Canada is proud to be a part of this annual celebration, and to support the willingness of entrepreneurs to take risks, devise new products and services, and create jobs and opportunities in communities across the West.
To do so, we rely on the partners in Western Canada's Business Service Network, who work at the local level to ensure western Canadians have direct access to financing, business services, market information and advice. This network, with over 100 points of service, is made up of several integrated organizations that provide entrepreneurs with what they need to establish a business or make it grow.
An important part of this network is The Business Link - a highly successful Business Service Centre funded by the Government of Canada through WD and in partnership with the Government of Alberta.
As part of its celebrations during Small Business Week, The Business

hosting this Web site featuring a calendar of events and other valuable
resources for entrepreneurs.
