Conquest, Saskatchewan - The Village of Conquest celebrated the opening of its new park today. The $6,100 project received $4,000 in funding from Western Economic Diversification Canada (WD) through the Canada Celebrates Saskatchewan centennial capital initiative.
“The Village of Conquest’s new park will further the beauty of the village as well as offer its young residents additional recreational space,” said Cypress Hills Grasslands Member of Parliament David Anderson on behalf of the Honourable Carol Skelton, Minister of National Revenue and Minister of Western Economic Diversification. “The park stands as a pleasant reminder of Saskatchewan’s centennial and illustrates the Government of Canada’s commitment to community development.”
WD’s funding went towards the construction of the park—known locally as the Canada Celebrates Saskatchewan Park—benches, a pedestal table and sidewalk replacement. Additional funding to furnish the park and build a playground came from area businesses.
