Minister Skelton announces upgrades to First Nation sports facility

Melfort, Saskatchewan — The Honourable Carol Skelton, Minister of National Revenue and Minister of Western Economic Diversification today announced $34,060 to improve the James Smith Cree First Nation’s sports grounds.

“This funding will not only make significant improvements to the James Smith Cree First Nation’s sporting facility, but will bring economic spin-offs”, said the Honourable Carol Skelton, Minister of National Revenue and Minister of Western Economic Diversification.

The improvements to the sporting facilities are part of the Canada Celebrates Saskatchewan centennial initiative. They will include building bleachers and fencing the baseball diamonds and the track, as well as the installation of new power hook ups by SaskPower.
