DND/NSERC Research Partnership ProgramThe Department of National Defence and the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) have established a research partnership program to support R&D; projects that: Complement R&D; capacityR&D; projects that capitalize on the complementary R&D; capacity existing in universities and in the Department of National Defence to generate new knowledge and support the development of new technical capabilities of interest to both the Department of National Defence and NSERC. Create synergyR&D; that builds strong three-way linkages and create synergy between researchers in the Department of National Defence and universities and the private sector. Transfer technologyResearch projects that efficiently and effectively transfer research results and technology to receptors in the private and public sectors. Train personnelR&D; Projects that train and develop highly qualified personnel in priority areas consistent with the future human resource requirements in the public and private sectors. Criteria and application processGrants are awarded for support of university-based research carried out in collaboration with the Department of National Defence and Canadian-based companies. Approved activities may be supported for up to five years and a maximum of $500,000 per project. Proposals should address defined priority research areas related to the development of non-weapon specific technologies with dual-use applications relevant to the Department of National Defence and with broader commercial applications.
