Technology Demonstration ProgramWhat is the TDP?The objective of the TDP is to demonstrate technologies fostered by Defence R&D; Canada (DRDC) and Canadian industry in the context of real and potential future Canadian Forces capabilities, concepts, doctrine, operations, and equipment. The TDP is aimed at concept development and evaluation for force design purposes and is therefore typically not focused on hardware development. Who can participate?TDP projects can be proposed by DND organizations, other government departments, defence agencies of allied nations, and Canadian industry. When to submit a proposalThe annual cycle for the formulation, evaluation and selection of TDP project proposals is as follows:
How to submit a proposalOrganizations external to DND shall submit initial project proposals to the TDP Secretariat from 15 April to 15 August using the TDP Initial Project Proposal template. The initial proposal shall not contain proprietary information. If required, this information can be provided once an agreement on information disclosure has been agreed to and signed. Initial proposals are screened to ensure that they address critical DND needs and that the TDP is the most suitable funding mechanism. Proposals that are found appropriate and meet the most urgent and highest priority requirements of DND are developed into full proposals under the guidance of the appropriate Director Science and Technology and are combined with internally originated full proposals for evaluation and selection. TDP projects proposed by Canadian Industry that are eventually approved by ADM(S&T;) will not necessarily result into a directed contract. DND organizations are not required to submit initial project proposals. DND organizations wishing to submit full proposals are to contact the TDP Secretariat for the appropriate background information. Application forms and instructions are normally issued to the Thrust Coordinators and Thrust Leaders in May or June of each year.
