Tara Gilbert is the Chief Executive Officer at Small Business BC, British Columbia 's key resource centre for business information and services.

Prior to Small Business BC, Tara has significant experience in the creation and maintenance of strategic alliances between government, corporations and communities. In the past ten years Tara has worked as an educator, consultant and CEO. Tara has served on numerous advisory boards and committees including the; ACCESS Trades, 2010 Yes Committee, Vancouver Agreement- Employment Task Force, Industry Council for Aboriginal Business, Aboriginal Homelessness Steering Committee, Ministry of Human Resources Provincial Advisory Committee, Canada West Foundation- Labour Force Advisory Committee, Metis National Council- HR Advisory Group, Canadian Council for Human Resources in the Environment Industry- National Steering Committee, Saskatchewan Labour Force Development Board, BC Chamber of Commerce Critical Skills Task Force, Northern Labour Market Development Board , and The Oil Sands Opportunity Advisory Committee.

Today, Tara steers Small Business BC' key initiative the REV - Regional Economic Vitality. The REV initiative is an economic acceleration strategy that identifies and satisfies community development needs. Under her leadership Small Business BC has restructured, secured partnerships, developed and redesigned several new web products at www.smallbusinessbc.ca , www.e-bc.ca and www.ebizblog.ca . “Our new websites mean we are better prepared than ever before to provide services and support for small businesses throughout the province at all stages of their development.”

Tara 's mission is to position Small Business BC as the key resource for starting and growing your business in BC. “The Small Business community is BC's economic engine. Tara Gilbert a former Schulich School of Business PhD candidate received her MBA and Bcom from McMaster University .
