Gentec Electro-Optics from Québec City Receives a Transfer of Technology

Quebec - March 27, 2001 - "Gentec électro-optics will receive financial support from Canada Economic Development and a transfer of technology from Defence R & D Canada, an agency within National Defence under which comes Defence Research Establishment Valcartier", Hon. Gilbert Normand, Secretary of State (Science, Research and Development) announced today.

Defence Research Establishment Valcartier’s project, known as "Commercial Software Certification for Government Applications or MaliCOTS", received a gold medal, in the Partnership category, at the TechnoFed 2000 Gala which took place on October 24.

DREV Expertise Finds Application in Cancer Detection

Val-Bélair, Quebec– The Honourable Lucienne Robillard, President of the Treasury Board, on behalf of the Honourable Art Eggleton, Minister of National Defence, announced today the transfer of imaging technology from Defence Research Establishment Valcartier (DREV) to DIAGNOS Inc. of Sainte-Foy. This imaging technology, known as Auto Context Image Database Exploitation System (ACIDES), will pave the way for the development of a computer-aided cancer detection system that is expected to increase the speed of diagnosis.


EUROSATORY 2000

DREV will be present at Eurosatory 2000 , in the Government of Canada booth in Paris – Le Bourget from June 19 to 23. Visitors will have a chance to meet our business counsellors.

Defence Research Establishment Valcartier accepted the invitation of the National Defense Industrial Association, through Combat Systems Sector, and will participate in the 18th International Symposium & Exhibition on Ballistics on November 15-19, 1999 in San Antonio, Texas, USA.


The Automotive Industry Draws Upon Defence Research Establishment Valcartier's Expertise

For the first time since its founding in 1945, Defence Research Establishment Valcartier (DREV) has been awarded a major research contract with the automobile industry that is expected to produce the third generation of gas generators for airbags. In awarding the contract, EXPRO Chemical Products recognizes the expertise of the Department of National Defence's most important R&D; centre.


DREV Awarded a Gold Medal for Excellence during TechnoFed’99

A technology developed by DREV's Information Systems Technology Section won the Gold medal in the category "Improving systems and services which serve the internal operations of government". The award was presented at the COMDEX computer show in Montreal (5 October 1999) within the framework of the ‘Technology in Government Week’TechnoFed’99, Province of Quebec. This prize recognizes the outstanding initiatives carried out within federal public bodies thanks to the judicious use of information technology.


Researcher emeritus to receive the National Order of Quebec

The inventor of the first transversely excited atmospheric carbon dioxide laser, Dr Jacques Beaulieu, has been honoured with the title Grand Officer of the National Order of Quebec by Premier Lucien Bouchard.
