Canada's space community provided satellite images for rescue and humanitarian efforts after the tsunami hit coastal areas in south Asia on December 26. Images taken before and after clearly show the ravaged coastlines in several countries.

In January, Marc Garneau, President of the Canadian Space Agency, unveiled the 2005 schedule, which mostly consists of planned activities for astronauts and projects associated with numerous satellites.
