Alpine Search and Rescue Canada provides primary SAR response across the Province of Manitoba at the request of any individual, organization or government agency. When responding to a callout our utmost priority is the life of the missing person and our aim is simple: to assist in locating and securing the victim safely with minimum disruption and financial loss to the family or company that retains us. Properly structured and coherent rescue tactics are essential to the successful resolution of an incident. With any missing person, there are conflicting interests from many different parties - the victim's family, friends and fellow employees, employers, the local government, law enforcement agencies, and others. Our rescuers act as a central filtering point for all such parties. Amongst other things, they advise the client on how to work and deal with the authorities, how to handle the media and how to manage the family of the victim. They can help to select and train the search teams, raise donations and manage the operational command center. Our unit provides the unlimited services of response consultants following a missing person, abduction, detention or disaster. It is not a condition of employment that the client uses our services or follows the advice given - all clients are free to make their own decisions and doing so does not invalidate the services we provide. We do, however, highly recommend working with our team as their expertise is invaluable. In the event of a missing person, a call to our 24 hour emergency hotline initiates the immediate deployment of the Duty Case Officer and alerts the field team unit. While the Case Officer is traveling contact with and advice to the client is maintained by telecommunication. Alpine Search and Rescue’s Case Officers operate within the legal parameters of the Province of Manitoba and therefore in liaison with the relevant authorities.
