Search and Rescue

The following courses are available from the SAR Section:

  • Maritime Search Planning Course (MSP) - A two-week course designed for Search and Rescue Mission Co-ordinators.
  • SAR Mobile Facilities/On Scene Co-ordinator Course (SMF/OSC) - A three week course designed to prepare CCG Ship Officers and Canadian Forces aircraft crew to manage SAR operations and perform the duties of an On-Scene Co-ordinator.
  • Search and Rescue Mission Co-ordinator Course (SMC) - A three-week course designed for Joint Rescue Co-ordination Centre or Maritime Rescue Sub-Centre personnel who are involved in Search and Rescue incidents.
  • Small Vessel Command Course (SVCC) - An eight week course designed to be a model of operations for a typical Coast Guard lifeboat station or small vessel station.
