Responsible for public safety and SAR activities in the Park and on the South Nahanni River. Has an MOU with the RCMP to cooperate when responding to SAR activities. Staff receive training in first aid, CPR, and wilderness survival. Staff also participate in an annual training program on the South Nahanni River, which includes white water canoe safety. Some staff have training in rappel and high-angle rescue techniques. Publishes a variety of material relating to wilderness and wildlife safety. Resources include two jet-boats, and various mountain rescue and first aid equipment. Bilingual services. Founded 1974. Four staff with SAR capabilities.
