Responsible for public safety and SAR activities in the park. Has an MOU with the RCMP to cooperate when responding to SAR activities. Also has agreements with the CCG, Parks Canada staff in other provinces, the Government of the Northwest Territories, and the Disaster Services Branch of Alberta Transportation and Utilities, Traffic Safety Services Division to share resources when required. Staff receive training in helicopter safety and other SAR techniques. Some staff receive search management training and some are experienced in technical rope works for cave rescues. Staff are recertified each year in first aid techniques. Resources include a fixed-wing aircraft. Bilingual services. Founded 1922. Nine full-time and one seasonal staff with SAR capabilities.
