Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary, Central and Arctic Region, District 3, provides a marine SAR response Service for Lake Erie west of Long Point, the Detroit/St. Clair waterway and Lake Huron north to Point Clarke. Units are tasked via the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre located at Canadian Forces Base Trenton. District 3 of the coast guard auxiliary currently has 12 vessels strategically placed available to respond to marine SAR incidents as well as members who provide a boating safety program to the public on request, at boat shows and other venues as well as providing Pleasure Craft Courtesy Checks. All members receive SAR training courses recognized by the Canadian Coast Guard.
