GENERAL INFORMATION
- The Directory of Canadian Search and Rescue (SAR) Organizations
facilitates contact among organizations involved in search and rescue
in Canada. This interactive online Directory was implemented in June
2003 by the National Search and Rescue Secretariat as an online tool
to assist the Canadian search and rescue community.
- Canadian SAR organizations can register online and update their own
entries as often as they want.
- This Directory is an inventory of organizations and is not intended
for alerting or distress situations.
- Inclusion in the Directory does not constitute endorsement or official
recognition of an organization.
- The entries are made in the language of the user.
- There is no printed version of this Directory.
- There is a special search engine designed to work within the Directory
only and allows you to search for Canadian search and rescue organization,
by organization, by region, by service type, by keyword or by advanced
search.

HOW TO USE THE DIRECTORY
The Directory provides contact names, numbers, date of last update, along
with a brief description of the roles and activities of each organization
in search and rescue in Canada. It comprises several sections:
- National section: describes organizations that conduct SAR
functions on a national level. For organizations that provide services
in more than one region, information is provided on their national headquarters
first, followed by the regional branches. To avoid repetition, organizations
included in this section are not listed in the provincial/territorial
sections.
- 13 provincial/territorial sections: provide information on
SAR organizations in each province/territory. Within these sections,
individual organizations are listed alphabetically by name. Organizations
that appear in the provincial/territorial sections provide SAR services
only in specific areas.
- How to Apply: describes in detail the registration process
for new and existing organizations.
- Search options: offers search options
- Glossary: proposes
a list of acronyms and their official names.
- Ground, Air, Marine: These symbols indicate organization's
primary role.
