Members are experienced in forest, marine, and night searches, and survival techniques. All members take SAR training courses that include map reading, compass use, land and water search techniques, wilderness survival, emergency first aid, and standard safety and GPS training. The team consists of 30 active volunteer members and is activated through the request of the RCMP, RNC, EMO and Parks Canada. Resources include GPSs, VHF radios, survival suits, a mobile command unit (large bus), first aid supplies, and a building in which to store equipment, hold meetings, and conduct training.
