BCCR is the rescue and training service of the British Columbia Speleological Federation. It is recognized by the Provincial Emergency Program (PEP) as the lead agency in cave rescue, providing specialized personnel and equipment for cave rescue emergencies on callout by the RCMP or the PEP Emergency Coordination Centre. BCCR is also available for training and mutual aid in Alberta. Members are trained in PEP Rope Rescue and have attended specially designed provincial week-long BCCR a seminar in cave rescue techniques and management (offered in alternate years), and regional weekend small party self-rescue technical workshops (offered periodically throughout each year). Operates under a 1992 Memorandum of Understanding with the PEP, the RCMP and the British Columbia Ambulance Service and has informal mutual aid arrangements with the U.S. National Cave Rescue Commission. Periodic information published in BC Caver. Founded July 1994. Over 150 individuals trained since 1987.
