SUBJECT: Living Cost Differential (LCD) Survey Results for Hudson/James Bay, North Shore Quebec and Newfoundland / Labrador Regions.
Departments are reminded to distribute this notice to employees at your headquarters and regional offices who are involved in the administration of the isolated posts allowances.
The results of the Statistics Canada survey of the Living Costs Differential (LCD) Indexes for the Hudson/James Bay, North Shore Quebec and Newfoundland/Labrador Regions conducted in September/October 2005 were recently communicated to the National Joint Council Isolated Posts and Government Housing Committee (NJC-IPGHC). A total of forty-eight (48) isolated posts were involved in this review and the results can be summarized as follows:

Departments are to provide written notices to employees who are affected by the changes as per Section 5.12.3 of the IPGHD as the total amount of the reduction in the living cost differential shall be effective on the first day of the fourth calendar month after the month in which written notice was received.
Departmental employees or regional staff should direct any questions on this subject to the appropriate departmental corporate official.
