By exploring and discovering the wonders of space, you'll be experiencing the exciting possibilities that science and technology have to offer, through fun, interactive science activities, demonstrations and workshops.

Explore the universe with an out-of-this-world adventure at the H.R. MacMillan Science Centre in Vancouver!

Astronauts, robots, and missions to Mars – what more could your kids want? If your children are between 8 and 13 years old, they can join the H.R. MacMillan Space Centre for our Space Camps! There are three different camps; Kosmic Kids, Red Planet Rovers, and Radical Robots – and all of the camps are packed with interactive, hands-on activities that will make your kids blast off!

	Kosmic Kids - Astronaut Adventures, 7-9 year old children find out what it takes to be an astronaut, learn about and design a mock spacesuit, build and launch a rocket, and simulate what it is like to live in the microgravity environment of space. July 8 - 12, July 15 - 19, July 29 - Aug. 2, Aug. 12-16, Aug 26-30
	Red Planet Rovers, ideally designed for children 10-12 years old. Rovers will plan a mission to Mars, and in the process they will experience aspects of astronaut training, learn all about the red planet, and build a prototype Martian colony. July 22 - 26, Aug. 19 - 22
	Radical Robots 1 - Space Robotics (11 - 13 years) Have you ever wanted a robot of your very own, but felt that building one might be too difficult? Our trained, friendly instructors will lead you through a step-by-step process to build the Rockit Robot; a robot that you can take home with you. July 13, 27, Aug. 7
	Radical Robots 2 - Space Robotics (11 - 13 years) Spend a day at the H.R. MacMillan Space Centre and build the Moon Walker 11, a 4-legged robot that you can take home with you. Prerequisite: Must have taken Radical Robots 1. Aug. 7

Summer Day Camps 2002 at the Calgary Science Centre.

SPACE ADVENTURES An "out-of-this-world" summer camp for 6 to 8 year olds! Soar into another galaxy with the Calgary Science Centre's Space Adventures camp! Become a mini-astronaut! Learn how humans survive in space through fun, hands-on science activities. Hands-on science activities may include: making a planet, inventing an alien, using a telescope and more! Campers will also explore our interactive exhibits, catch our exciting new theatre shows in the Discovery Dome, and discover science outside in our Amazement Park! Week-long, full day programs from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Space Adventures is available from July 1 to August 23, 2002.

SCI-QUEST An eclectic, fun summer camp for 9-11 year olds! Explore various areas of science with fun hands-on activities at Calgary Science Centres' Sci-Quest camp! Topics vary, but may include the environment, technology (invent a toy), living things, chemistry (making goo), and forensics (finger printing). Our interactive exhibits, exciting new theatre shows in Discovery Dome and time spent outside in our Amazement Park are all part of the experience! Week-long, full day program from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sci-Quest is available July 1 to August 23, 2002. Maximum number per week is 30 children.

	Junior Astronomers (Ages 7-9) Junior Explorers of the Universe... Children will discover the myths and legends of various constellations, discover the worlds of our solar system and learn about our place in the Universe. They will build their own astronomical tools to use and take home including a 16-power telescope, a safe solar viewer, a solar system model, a planisphere, a sundial and a gravity well. They will also invent an alien from some far off world! 	Junior Wings to Rockets (Ages 7-9) Let Your Imagination Take Flight... Learn the principles of flight as you experiment with lift, thrust, drag and gravity. Make flyable airplane prototypes out of paper and wood and build a free flight airplane (A.M.A. Cub). Build and launch a hot air balloon and an ESTES Super Shot flyable model rocket. Learn the fundamentals of flying by using a computer flight simulator and then get ready to visit the Alberta Aviation Museum to learn more about air travel and aircraft designs. Finally take to the skies with experienced pilots with the Edmonton Flying Club as you learn about flight by touring the city in a light aircraft! Science Discovery Camps
	Science Fun (Ages 7 to 10) Let your children discover science in this full week, full day programme. Each day a different topic will be explored to introduce kids to the variety of sciences: Monday (Fabulous Chemistry), Tuesday (Super Sleuths), Wednesday (Space Travel), Thursday (Engineering Marvels) and Friday (Biology Exploration). IMAX® films, planetarium shows and field trips to our exhibit galleries and science lab will complement the in-class programme. During the Space Travel day children will build an ESTES Alpha III flyable model rocket and launch it. They will also explore our solar system and far away star systems in our journey through our Universe. In the process campers will learn some of the stars and constellations visible from our home world! 	The Saturn V (Limited Edition) Rocketry/Space Camp: (Ages 10-14) That's One Small Step For A Man, One Great Rocket For... Commemorate the 33rd Anniversary of the first Moon landing by building and flying your own ESTES 1/100 scale limited edition Saturn V flyable model rocket. Participants will also explore the history of manned space flight and how it culminated in the event of the century, a landing on the Moon. The launch pad and the launch controller are not included in the fee and must be supplied by camp participants. If participants do not have their own launch pad then a launch pad will be provided on the day of the launch. All other finishing and launch materials supplied including a 3/16th of an inch maxi launch rod required to launch this large rocket. Previous model rocketry experience is a definite must to take this camp. 5 full days July 15 - 19, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
	All About Flight (Ages 10-14) The Great Experiment of Man In Flight... Learn the principles of flight as you experiment with lift, thrust, drag and gravity. 	Build Your Own Navius Robot (Ages 9 - 12) Build the MOVIT MV-938 Navius robot, which uses a programming disk to determine its path. All supplies included! Participants should bring a bagged lunch.  1 day  August 10, 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
	Build Your Own Robot Arm (Ages 9 - 12) Build the new OWI-007 Robotic Arm Trainer. This kit teaches basic robotic sensing and locomotion principles while testing your motor skill as you build and control the arm. You can command this unit to lower, rotate the wrist, and pivot sideways 350 degrees! All supplies included. 1 day  August 17, 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
	Build Your Own Spider III Robot (Ages 9 - 12) Build the MOVIT MV-962 Spider III Robot, which uses an infrared beam and sensor to change its path when it encounters obstacles. All supplies included! Summer Day Camps 2002 at the Canada Science and Technology Museum in Ontario.

	Astro Camp I (for kids 6 to 8 years of age) One of a kind day camp for young space adventurers. Participants explore a variety of dynamic and interactive space and astronomy activities including construction of a model space station or miniature satellite. Experiment with balloon rockets, make space slime and build a communications tower with marshmallows. Each day, recreational activities are also offered, allowing campers to let off steam. Don't miss this unforgettable experience!
	Astro Camp II (for kids 9 to 12 year of age) In-depth and advanced projects dealing with space exploration and astronaut training keep astronomy and space fans absorbed for the week. Construct (and keep) a rocket and see how high you can launch it. Make a model galaxy, build a geodesic planetarium and design, construct and program a modular robot. Our famous egg-launch competition completes the week.

Space camp at Science North is out of this world! Space cadets will build and launch rockets, make a small model of Canadarm2 and a spacesuit of their own design! They'll also ride the Multi-Axis Trainer and learn some astronomy and optics by making sun dials and mini-telescopes.
