 Outcomes by Parliamentary Committee

Standing committees are responsible for examining the administration, policy development, and budgetary estimates of certain government departments and agencies. This includes:

  • the review of programs and policy objectives and their effectiveness
  • the review of the immediate, medium and long-term expenditure plans and the effectiveness of their implementation
  • the analysis of the relative success of departments and agencies, as measured by the results obtained as compared with the objectives
Some of the standing committees are also given mandates to examine matters that have government-wide implications (e.g. official languages policy, multiculturalism policy).
