Government Operation and Immigration Division (GOID) is responsible for the management of the financial resources
of twenty-six institutions that play a
regulatory or operational role within the federal government. This responsibility includes providing the Treasury Board
and these institutions with advice on the effective use of resources, maximizing program objectives and matching
operational issues to broader governmental initiatives.
Analysts in GOID fulfill their duties
through several means:
- Challenging departments and agencies, where necessary, to ensure that public monies are directed toward government
priorities and programs before bringing proposals to Cabinet.
- Advocating on behalf of departments and agencies, where necessary, in dealing with the central agencies (Departments
of Finance, the Privy Council Office and Treasury
Board Secretariat (TBS)) and other government entities to articulate needs and promote issue resolution.
- Conveying information on Treasury Board (TB) and Treasury Board Secretariat (TBS) expectations to client
departments and agencies.
- Advising departments and agencies of relevant policies and new initiatives affecting their operations.
- Assisting in the preparation of the annual main estimates and related supplementary estimates as well as in
decision-making processes such as TB submissions and memoranda to cabinet.
The Financial Administration Act and various TBS
policies relate to GOID in its dealing
with individual departments and agencies.
