Provides trained ground SAR volunteers to jurisdictional agencies. Level 1 training includes basics in military standard UTM map and compass, Department of Communications standard radio procedures, Red Cross standard first aid and CPR, Emergency Response Institute standard basic SAR fundamentals, as well as numerous internal courses. Advanced training includes wilderness first aid, aquatic rescue specialist, swift water, ice, and embankment/rope rescue, mantracking, advanced map reading and compass use, team leader and search manager. Eight members are registered EMT-As. Resources include a fully equipped command post, a 14-foot trailer equipped to outfit a search base, a 5000 kilowatt generator, and access to a fully equipped Basic Trauma Life Support unit as needed. Participates in the "Lost-in-the-Woods" program with 12 instructors and a provincial representative organizing an average of 80 presentations annually. Member of the Provincial SAR Association. One hundred regular volunteer members and numerous associate volunteers.
