North / OffshoreThe National Energy Board has regulatory responsibilities under the Canada Oil and Gas Operations Act and under certain provisions of the Canada Petroleum Resources Act for oil and gas exploration and activities on frontier lands not otherwise regulated under joint federal/provincial accords. The Board also has specific responsibilities under the Northern Pipeline Act. The Board's mandate also includes the provision of expert technical advice to the Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Petroleum Board, the Canada-Nova Scotia Offshore Petroleum Board, Natural Resources Canada and Indian and Northern Affairs Canada.
