Release of Pay Cheques

DATE: August 13, 2001

TO: Directors of personnel
chiefs of Staff Relations
Compensation managers
Senior Finacial Officers

SUBJECT: Release of Pay Cheques

This is to advise departments on the early release of pay cheques for the pay periods ending on August 15, 2001 and August 29, 2001.

Due to the current labour situation, pay cheques dated Wednesday, August 15, 2001 may be released on Tuesday, August 14, 2001. Also, for the pay cheques dated Wednesday, August 29, 2001, these cheques may be released on Tuesday, August 28, 2001. The official pay days of August 15, 2001 and August 29, 2001 remain unchanged.

Employees are to be reminded that the early release of pay cheques does not entitle employees to cash or deposit them in advance of the official pay day.

As per our Information Bulletin entitled 'Pay Administration During Labour Disruptions', dated August 8, 2001, Managers and Compensation Advisors are reminded that the recovery of overpayments resulting from strike activity must be made from regular pay in a subsequent pay period.

Departmental Compensation, Staff Relations and Finance managers should direct any questions that they may have to their corporate Compensation officials who, if need be, can contact the Pay Administration Section.
