The central goal of the Government of Canada is to improve the quality of life of Canadians. All government policies, programs and activities are directed toward this key objective. The Government of Canada has developed a whole of government framework to track its contribution to Canada’s performance as a nation. The framework is structured around three key policy areas:
This framework provides parliamentarians and Canadians with a whole of government perspective from which to view the plans, results and resources reported in departmental and agency planning and performance reports, as well as in the
Annual Report to Parliament on Crown Corporations and Other Corporate Interests of
Canada.
Each policy area is subdivided into “Government of Canada Outcomes”, which are the long-term and enduring benefits to Canadians that federal departments, agencies and Crown corporations are working to achieve.
Each "Government of Canada Outcome" is then supported by departmental and agency strategic outcomes and
Crown corporation mandates. They represent the difference these organizations want to make for Canadians through their programs and initiatives.
