The information on this site is the property of the Government of Québec and all intellectual property rights to the information are held by the Government of Québec. Unless otherwise specified, those rights extend to all documents, data, compilations and other works disseminated on the site. Government trademarks are also protected.

Integrity of information

The Government of Québec guarantees the integrity of the information at the time of posting, but not thereafter; it accepts no responsibility whatsoever for any document, data or other material once it has been altered or modified in any manner, after downloading or otherwise. In the event of a discrepancy between an official text and the content of this site, the official text prevails.

Intellectual property rights

The Government of Québec holds exclusive intellectual property rights over the documents it produces or publishes, including all administrative and official texts (statutes, regulations, by-laws, judgments, etc.), whether produced by Government of Québec employees, a government department, a public body or a third party having assigned its rights or granted a user licence to the State. Intellectual property rights include copyrights, trademarks and patents.

The data and information on the website of the Directeur de l'état civil is protected by copyright in the same manner as literary, musical and artistic works.

Unless otherwise indicated and subject to exceptions provided for in the relevant legislation, no material subject to intellectual property rights may be used without the appropriate authorizations, licences, permissions or grants of interest from or by the Government of Québec, including reproduction or storage for any purpose other than purely personal purposes, which are permitted.

Any person intending or wishing to reproduce, store, download, translate, communicate to the public by telecommunication or make a public audio or video presentation of any document, data or other material on this site for commercial purposes must obtain the prior authorization of the Government of Québec. The authorization may be obtained from the Service de la gestion des droits d'auteur¹ of the Publications du Québec.

After obtaining the authorization, the removal of the name of one or more of the authors of the source or any alteration of the material by additions, deletions or otherwise constitutes an infringement of the moral rights of the authors concerned.
