Applying for a passport

Fees

The fees(1) below are listed in Canadian dollars and can be paid as follows:

In person

  • Certified cheque, traveller's cheque or international money order (postal or bank) made payable to the Receiver General for Canada
  • Credit card (VISA, MasterCard, AMERICAN EXPRESS)

By mail

  • Certified cheque, traveller's cheque or international money order (postal or bank) made payable to the Receiver General for Canada
  • Credit card (VISA, MasterCard, AMERICAN EXPRESS)

All passport service fees must be paid upon application; any application that is not accompanied by full fee payment shall be considered incomplete and therefore shall not be processed.

Important: every person who requests that a passport service be performed must pay a passport service fee. Therefore, applicants who cancel their application or who are refused a passport are not eligible for a refund.
