In Québec, the Directeur de l'état civil is the only public officer authorized to issue genuine certificates and copies of documents relating to civil status events, i.e., birth, marriage or civil union, or death. The administrative branch of the Directeur de l'état civil wishes to inform the public that it maintains no partnership with any private firm whatsoever for the issuance of civil status documents.
