There are many types of benefits and allowances that you may have to include in an employee's income. Whether or not they are taxable depends on the type of benefit or allowance, and the reason the employee or officer receives it. Add the taxable benefits and allowances to the employee's income each pay period to determine the total that is subject to source deductions. Help the payroll person in your organization learn about the tax consequences of giving these and other benefits to your employees:
  • Do I need to include the costs of paying medical plans in the employee's income?
  • How do I complete the T4 for an employee that I have paid vehicle expenses to?
  • What happens if I give my employee a gift?
  • Can I contribute to an RRSP on behalf of my employee?
