Gaming Sector in Canada
Abstract |
Although gaming, or gambling, has been around for a long time, it is only in the last couple of decades that phenomenal growth has catapulted the industry in Canada into a multi-billion dollar bonanza. To gamble is to "play games of chance for money, especially for high stakes." Legalized gambling in Canada encompasses lotteries, bingo, charitable gaming, horse racing, casinos and video lottery terminals. Falling somewhere in the grey region between "legal" and "illegal" is the burgeoning Internet or online gaming market. This report describes important trends and issues in the industry, barriers to growth and challenges and a human resources profile.
