Title
  Annual Demographic Statistics 2005
Abstract This issue of Annual Demographic Statistics is organized by level of geography: (1) Canada, provinces and territories, (2) census metropolitan areas, (3) census divisions and (4) economic regions. Estimates of the total population, components of demographic growth and distribution by age group and sex are provided at each level. The tables on the components comprise both estimates in numbers and rates to facilitate comparisons. Section 5 provides estimates of the number of census families, estimates by marital status and by legal marital status, while section 6 provides selected vital statistics. These population estimates use the 2001 Census counts adjusted for net undercoverage At the time of preparation of this publication, final data for vital statistics were available only up to 2002 for deaths and 2003 for births. Data used to estimate immigrants, net non-permanent residents, emigrants, returning emigrants and net temporary emigrants were final up to 2001-2002. Estimates pertaining to interprovincial and intrapovincial migration are based on final 2003-2004 statistics.
