Entrepreneurs with Disabilities Network (EDN) is a Nova Scotia based organization that promotes and facilitates entrepreneurship among persons with disabilities.

Summary

EDN is committed to:

  • promoting and facilitating entrepreneurship among persons with disabilities;
  • representing the needs of entrepreneurs with disabilities;
  • advising business service providers on how best to serve entrepreneurs with disabilities;
  • ensuring opportunity for cross-disabilities to be represented and to participate in the Canadian economy, as well as benefiting from it.

EDN membership is open to the following:

  • entrepreneurs with a disability;
  • persons with a disability interested in entrepreneurship;
  • individuals or organizations interested in facilitating entrepreneurship for persons with disabilities.

EDN offers:

  • Internet Access - fully accessible site at http://www.ednns.ca/;
  • IDEA NS - a service for entrepreneurs with disabilities within a service. Co-located at the Canada/Nova Scotia Business Service Centre, this model is recognized as a "best practices" in providing services to Canadians with disabilities;
  • Access to studies and other research pertaining to issues regarding entrepreneurs with disabilities.
  • Videos - the network participated in the development of two videos, which highlight the businesses of a number of entrepreneurs with disabilities.

Publications

  • Opening Horizons: Entrepreneurs with Disabilities who have made a Contribution to the Canadian Economy (Moira Jones, Editor). A publication profiling ten entrepreneurial success stories, available in French and English. NOTE:  The cost is $10.00 plus shipping and handling.
  • Quarterly Newsletter: EDN distributes more than 700 newsletters to its members, organizations and individuals who are registered with EDN. Each newsletter profiles an entrepreneur with a disability, provides tips on how to start/ run a business, upcoming events, tradeshows, information sessions and contact information.
