The Senate observed a minute of silence in memory of Captain Nichola Goddard, whose tragic death occurred yesterday while serving her country in Afghanistan.

Presentation of Reports from Standing or Special Committees

The Honourable Senator Keon, Chair of the Standing Senate Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology, presented its third report (Bill S-2, An Act to amend the Hazardous Materials Information Review Act, without amendment).

The Honourable Senator Keon moved, seconded by the Honourable Senator Di Nino, that the bill be placed on the Orders of the Day for a third reading at the next sitting.

The question being put on the motion, it was adopted.

Tabling of Reports from Inter-Parliamentary Delegations

The Honourable Senator Oliver tabled the following:

Report of the Canadian section of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association concerning its participation in the Study Group on the Administration of Parliament, held in Zanzibar, Tanzania, from May 25 to 29, 2005.—Sessional Paper No. 1/39-164.

The name of the Honourable Senator Cordy substituted for that of the Honourable Senator Mercer (May 17).

The name of the Honourable Senator Mercer substituted for that of the Honourable Senator Cordy (May 18).

Standing Senate Committee on Banking, Trade and Commerce

The names of the Honourable Senators Di Nino and Campbell substituted for those of the Honourable Senators Eyton and Fitzpatrick (May 18).

Standing Senate Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology

The name of the Honourable Senator Cook substituted for that of the Honourable Senator Robichaud (May 18).
