Competition Bureau Seeks Comments on Draft Guidelines: Deceptive Notice of Winning a Prize Provision (Section 53 of the Competition Act)

OTTAWA, August 26, 2003 – The Competition Bureau released today its draft Guidelines on the Deceptive Notice of Winning a Prize Provision (Section 53 of the Competition Act).

These draft guidelines are being released to provide a better understanding of the Bureau's approach to enforcing the Deceptive Notice of Winning a Prize Provision. Comments from interested parties and stakeholders are requested by November 28, 2003. These can be submitted by e-mail, fax or regular mail. All submissions will be made available to the public and will be posted on our Web site, except where confidentiality is specifically requested.

The Bureau is committed to developing enforcement and educational tools through an open and transparent process.
