Veterans Affairs Canada

Primary Client(s)
Seniors and their families, caregivers and supporting service organizations

Project Description
The Seniors Canada On-Line (SCOL) Web site was launched in January 2001 to provide quick and easy access to hundreds of federal, and provincial/territorial government Web sites and well-known non-government sites.

The project is currently funded to complete phase two i.e. e-transactions and service transformation. Completion of phase two will prepare for phase three i.e. seamless government. At the completion of these phases in 2005, the SCOL Web site will become a true portal that will offer citizens and service providers access to a seamless "virtual" government office where applications or referrals can be made for a variety of government benefits and services.  Phase two work includes:

The cluster will complement, rather than replace, traditional methods of getting information.

Benefits to Clients
An easy-to-use method for getting relevant information at any time from one convenient location; information that is personalized according to the user's preferences; and eventually, a secure, seamless and customized method to use electronic access to government benefits and services without having to provide personal information numerous times to service providers.

Relationship to Secure Channel
The Secure Channel will be used to provide authentication for e-transactions through the Seniors Canada On-line portal.
