12th Canadian Skills Competition
Service Canada was pleased to be a part of the 12th annual Canadian Skills Competition, which took place from May 23 to 26, 2006 at the Halifax Metro and World Trade Centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
The Olympic-style competition showcased the skills and abilities of over 400 young Canadians involved in trades and technology occupations. The two-day competition featured more than 40 skilled trade and technology activities, including carpentry, graphic design, culinary arts, landscaping and more.
Medalists of the competition will go on to represent Team Canada and compete in the next World Skills Competition in Numazu City, Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan in 2007. Canada won five medals, ranking 12th out of 34 countries, at the last World Skills Competition in Helsinki, Finland in 2005. Canada will host the 40th World Skills Competition in Calgary, Alberta in 2009.
Congratulations to all who participated in this year's competition!
