Cancellation and “No Show” Policy

Cancellation Period

Participant cancellations or requests to reschedule for another offering will be accepted at no charge if a written notification is received at least fourteen (14) calendar days prior to the course start date (by fax: (819) 953-7953 or e-mail: info@csps-efpc.gc.ca).

Participants enrolled in language training must send a written cancellation notification to the appropriate language training centre (detailed contacts are listed in Annex A).

Given the level of pre-course work associated with select leadership development courses, a cancellation period of 28 days is required. Courses subject to the 28-day cancellation period are listed in Annex B.

Cancellation/No-Show Fees

Registrants who do not attend or do not complete the course (“no-shows”) or who cancel or reschedule after the cancellation date will be invoiced for the full course fee*.

*Note:

  • For required training courses, the full course fee is the fee at which it is offered to participants outside the application of the Policy on Learning, Training and Development.
  • Effective October 1, 2006 the full course fee for official languages training is the equivalent of four (4) weeks of training costs. In addition, “no-show” registrants for official languages training will not be placed back on the waiting list.

Departments will be invoiced on a monthly basis on outstanding cancellation/no show fees related to required training and regular updates will be sent to the responsible Deputy Minister on the status of these amounts.

Please note that the School will adhere strictly to this cancellation, rescheduling, and “no show” policy.

Substitutions

The School is pleased to accept substitutions for its regular courses/events provided the individual meets established requirements for the offering and that sufficient time is available for completion of any pre-course work. In the event of discrepancies, the Registrar will be responsible for determining whether requirements are met.

Substitutions will also be accepted for required training courses. It is the responsibility of the participant to find an eligible substitute, notify the School of the change and to ensure that the substitute registers in their place. Participants should consult their Required Training Coordinator to find an eligible substitute.

General Issues

The School will adhere strictly to this Cancellation Policy in the administration of its offerings. In exceptional circumstances (e.g., serious illness, death in the family), the Registrar may offer the participant an opportunity to attend a future course offering.
