Q.	Can I submit any type of passport application at the Service Canada site?
A.	Receiving Agents will accept only standard applications. If any of the following conditions apply, the applicant must submit the application directly to Passport Canada: Urgent applications (travel date is less than 20 working days plus mailing time); A valid passport submitted with the application has more than one-year validity; There is an indication of a lost/stolen/damaged/ mutilated/ inaccessible passport (submission of a PPT 203 or verbal); Applicant does not have a guarantor and uses a Statutory Declaration in Lieu of Guarantor (PPT 132); In the case of a child's application, if there is no participation of the other parent, no matter what the circumstances, (i.e. death, sole custody, etc); Requests for Gratis replacement; Requests for Extension of limited validity passport; Requests for Renewals of IRIS issued passports; and Requests to add married name to maiden name passport.

Q.	How much time will it take to process my application?
A.	The turnaround time to process passport applications is 20 working days upon receipt, not including mail time.
Q.	What services are offered by the Receiving Agents?
A.	You can bring your completed application form, required documentation and fee to the participating Service Canada Centre. Your application will be reviewed for completeness and accuracy and then forwarded to Passport Canada for examination and processing. Receiving Agents are not authorized to authenticate your proof of identity or determine whether you may receive a passport - these processes and decisions remain the responsibility of Passport Canada. Any subsequent questions or concerns about the status of a passport application should be directed to Passport Canada. Once approved, your passport will be delivered to you directly by Passport Canada.
Q.	Are there any special arrangements with respect to paying the application fees?
A.	Service Canada and the Passport Office are working together to make the experience of applying for a passport simple, convenient and secure. Receiving Agents will be pleased to accept: certified cheques or money orders (postal or bank); credit card (VISA; MasterCard, American Express) or debit card payments for the passport fee. Fees can also be paid in cash, but to the extent possible, exact change is appreciated.
